WCDC Performance Survival Guide and Important Information
Dear Parents and Dancers,
We are moving into a very important part of the year. Class attendance is very crucial at this point to ensure dancers are prepared and ready to shine on stage at the June 11th performance “Better When I’m Dancin.”
PLEASE READ ALL of the following information (which can also be found on our website under the “PERFORMANCE” tab at www.westcoastdanceconservatory.com).
1. TICKET SALES: May 2, 2017
The June 11th “Better When I’m Dancin‘” Performance ticket sales will open on May 2, 2017 at 8 am online for $16 & $18 a ticket. Ticket sales will be ONLINE only; tickets will not be available at the front desk.

Make sure to select the proper performance time your dancer is performing in.

Please be certain to print your tickets and take them with you to the show for admission!
We highly recommend purchasing and printing your tickets at home prior to the performance. By doing so ushers will admit patrons into the theater seating area as quickly and efficiently as possible. Also, you will avoid a line at will call the day of the show! Patrons who forget to bring their tickets to the show will need to check in at WILL CALL in the lobby to validate their ticket purchase. If you require will call services, please arrive 30 minutes prior to show time.
2. COSTUME DISTRIBUTION WEEK: Saturday, May 1-6, 2017
Dancers will receive their costumes during class the week of May 1st. A few classes may have received their costume before distribution week.
NOTE: We encourage parents of dancers in the Creative Movement, Combo Class or Pre-Level classes to attend the last 15 minutes of class to receive the costume.
If your child is NOT participating in the June 11th performance, we suggest they are picked up 15 minutes early from class.
3. IN STUDIO REHEARSAL: Saturday, May 13, 2017
No costumes are required for this rehearsal. The “In Studio Rehearsal” will be held at West Coast Dance Conservatory. Dancers should be in regular class attire with proper hair and shoes pertinent to their class dance. Although parents are welcome to watch, our “In Studio Rehearsal” space is limited: therefore, only 1 parent/guardian will be allowed upstairs during rehearsal.
There are no regularly scheduled classes on Saturday, May 13, 2017.

4. BACKSTAGE ANGEL MEETING AT 4:30 PM: May 13, 2017
The success of the performance depends on how the backstage runs; therefore, Backstage Angels are needed to ensure children are safe, dressed, and escorted to and from the stage. With that being said, I will be holding a meeting for Backstage Angels, on May 13th at 4:30 pm. Please make it a priority to attend the meeting, as all essential logistics pertaining to our Spring Performance will be explained in detail.
In addition, we highly recommend you attend the In Studio Rehearsal on May 13 with your dancer. It will be to your benefit to attend the “In Studio Rehearsal” so that you can familiarize yourself with Backstage Angel duties. The studio run through times can be found here.
NOTE: All “Backstage Angels” will be able to accompany their children backstage and watch their performance. It is a special and magical experience for both the dancers and the “Backstage Angels.
***We are still in need of a few more Backstage Angels. If you are interested in becoming a Backstage Angel, please send us an email.
5. PICTURE DAY: May 19-21, 2017
Pictures will be taken at West Coast Dance Conservatory on May 19th – May 21st. Students will have the opportunity to take group and individual photos at a scheduled time. See below for picture day appointments. Appointments can also be found here:
Dancers must arrive 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO GROUP PICTURE TIME & IN COMPLETE COSTUME (tights, costume, hair, and make-up). If dancers are late for the group photo, the photographer will not wait. Please arrive early and ready to go. It is important each student is present at “Picture Day” during their scheduled class time.
Group photos are memorable, and we would love for all dancers to be included! During the dancers designated class time, we will take individual pictures for those who have purchased photos. Pictures will be available for pick up at the Dress Rehearsal.

6. DRESS REHEARSAL: June 10, 2017
DRESS REHEARSAL IS MANDATORY FOR ALL DANCERS!
Dress Rehearsal will be held at Bayside Performing Arts Center (Direction HERE)
Dress rehearsal plays a vital role in the success of the show, as it allows dancers to familiarize themselves with the stage, lighting and excitement of the theater the day before their big show.
PLEASE ARRIVE 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE REHEARSAL TIME
Arriving early will ensure all dancers are present when their number is rehearsed. We will not wait for late dancers. All dancers (ages 11 and under) should be accompanied by an adult, during the rehearsal. Dancers (12 and older) may be dropped off at the theater but must be picked up promptly after the dress rehearsal.
NOTE: The Dress Rehearsal is for dancers and one parent/chaperone. No guests are allowed. Dress Rehearsal is not a place to bring family/ friends.
Dancers must arrive in full costume (including hair & makeup.)
When you arrive at the theater with your dancer, please make your way into the auditorium and join your class by assigned row in the auditorium.
Dancers will practice their dances in rehearsal order. The Backstage Angels and WCDC staff will guide the groups to the back of the stage before their class rehearses. We should always have a group onstage, a group in the wings, a group at the stage door, a group en route to the stage, and a group leaving the stage to return back to the audience.
After dancers are finished practicing their dance on stage, classes will be dismissed. Once the class is dismissed, dancers may

Stay and watch the other classes perform
Change their costume for the next dance.
If your dancer has more then one dance and needs to change costumes, they may use the green room behind the stage. If the dancer needs assistance from their parents during the Dress Rehearsal, the dancer will need to change in the bathrooms located in the lobby of the theater. Boys will use the bathrooms in the Lobby for the Dress Rehearsal. Once the dancer is changed into their costume, they will need to sit with their class by assigned row in the auditorium.
We are looking forward to a great Dress Rehearsal. The most important quality to bring to dress rehearsal is patience. We realize it will be a long day. We strive to make the rehearsal as quick as possible, while at the same time ensuring all the dancers feel comfortable performing on stage and the technical crew is ready for the show. It is difficult keeping everyone happy, while producing such a large-scale production. We will need the help of our Backstage Angels to maintain a workable atmosphere in the auditorium so that we can have a productive rehearsal. Thank you so much!

NOTE: Dancers that perform in multiple shows are invited to stay at theater for a picnic between the performances in the courtyard.
9. VIDEO ORDER FORMS
As a capstone to an amazing 2016-2017 season at West Coast Dance Conservatory, our dancers will be showcasing all of their hard work and talents on stage at the Spring Performance titled “Better When I’m Dancin”. We anticipate this show to be an exciting and very memorable event for both our dancers and their families. A professional videographer from Adams Video Services will be at both the matinee and evening shows capturing every moment on stage.
DVDs and Blu-Ray Discs of all the “Bettter When I’m Dancin'” performances can be obtained which include footage from two different camera angles and professional editing with a video montage.
