DRESS REHEARSAL
DRESS REHEARSAL IS MANDATORY FOR ALL DANCERS!
Dress Rehearsal will be held at Bayside Performing Arts Center
Dress rehearsal plays a vital role in the success of the show; it will allow the dancers to familiarize themselves with the stage, lighting and excitement of the theater the day before their big show.
PLEASE ARRIVE 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE REHEARSAL TIME
Dress Rehearsal Saturday, June 11th 12:30 PM – Sunday, June 12th 1:00 PM Performance
Dress Rehearsal Saturday, June 11th 3:00 PM – Sunday, June 12th 4:30 PM Performance
Arriving early will ensure all dancers are present when their number is rehearsed. We will not be able to wait for dancers that are late. All dancers (ages 11 and under) should be accompanied by an adult during the rehearsal. Dancers (12 and older) may be dropped off at the theatre but must be picked after promptly after the dress rehearsal. The dress rehearsal will not last longer then 2 hours.
NOTE: The Dress Rehearsal is for dancers and one parent/chaperone. No guests are allowed. Dress Rehearsal is not a place to bring family/ friends.
Dancers must arrive in full costume (including hair & makeup.)
When you arrive at the theatre with your dancer, please make your way into the auditorium and join your class by assigned row in the auditorium. The classes will appear in show order starting from the stage to the back of the house.
All classes will rehearse the finale at the beginning of the rehearsal.
The dancers will practice their dances in show order. The Backstage Angels and WCDC staff will bring the groups to the back of the stage before their class rehearses. We should always have a group onstage, a group in the wings, a group at the stage door, a group en route to the stage, and a group leaving the stage to return back to the audience.
Classes will be dismissed after they finish practicing their dance on stage. Once the class has been dismissed the dancer may 1.) leave the theatre 2.) stay and watch the other classes perform 3.) change their costume for the next dance.
If your dancer has more then one dance and needs to change costumes, they may use the green room behind the stage. If the dancer needs assistance from their parents during the Dress Rehearsal, the dancer will need to change in the bathrooms located in the lobby of the theatre. Boys will need to use the bathrooms in the Lobby for the Dress Rehearsal. Once the dancer has changed into their costume, they will need to sit with their class by assigned row in the auditorium.
All dancers 12 and older must be picked up at the theatre two hours after the start of the rehearsal.
COSTUME NOTES
Your stage presentation requires a little preparation. Kindly prepare your costume by doing the following:
Try your costume on at home to see what adjustments need to be made in advance. During picture day we noticed that some costumes need to have the straps tightened.
Securely fasten all hair and headpieces with bobby pins, gel and hairspray.
Do not wear underwear under your tights! They are meant to take the place of underwear.
Tuck in all strings on ballet and pointe shoes. Double knot anything that ties-shoes or costumes!
Label all costume pieces, shoes and props with your name on it. This way we can notify you if we found it.
Check the website: Hair, Makeup and Costume Guide to make sure you are prepared for the performance.
Our dress rehearsal will be professionally photographed. Costumes, hair/make-up etc. should be done exactly as it is expected to be for both dress rehearsal and recital.
We are looking forward to a great Dress Rehearsal. The most important thing to bring to dress rehearsal is your patience. We realize this will be a long day. Please know that we will be as quick as possible while at the same time ensuring all the dancers feel comfortable performing on stage and that the technical crew is ready for the show. It is a difficult balance keeping everyone happy while producing such a large-scale production. We will need the chaperones to help us maintain a workable atmosphere in the auditorium so we can have a productive rehearsal. Thank you so much!

Hair, Makeup and Costume Guide
HAIR
HIGH BUN – ALL CLASSES
Materials Needed: Rubber Bands, Bobbi Pins, Hair Net, Gel, Hair Spray (All ponytail elastics, pins, etc. must match the hair color) NO BANGS will be permitted. Hair should be a natural hair color without glitter, feathers, colorful clips, etc.
1. Pull your hair back into a ponytail with gel by following the dancers jaw line up the back of the head for a high ponytail placement. Use a comb or brush to remove the bumps while you secure the ponytail elastic. The tighter you can make this ponytail, the better.
2. Twist the ponytail into a tight rope.
3. Tightly wind the strand of hair around the ponytail holder. Follow the direction you twisted in for the best result — if you twisted clockwise, wrap clockwise. You want to keep the rope of hair close to the ponytail holder. Use bobby pins to secure everything down.
4. To hold in stray ends around the bun use a hairnet that matches the color of your hair.
5. Hairspray if there are any wisps or frizzy hairs showing
